It's only recognizing one stick of it. The Ram itself is not bad. I've verified this by placing each stick in individually and I get no errors.Which either means that for some reason the software isn't recognizing the ram or the second slot itself is bad? What might you all suggest?

I had the same trouble as described - installed memory but it wasn't recognized. My solution was to upgrade the ASUS BIOS from 203 to 205. However, I don't think that this is what solved it for me.
